Shampoo Cleaning

For carpet or fabrics a cleaning solution is whipped into a foam by the rotary motion of a brush, powered by a floor machine. The gentle brush action loosens embedded soil which is then encapsulated by the shampoo. Upon drying, loose and encapsulated soils are removed by subsequent vacuumings.

Equipment

High sudsing and foam cleaning detergent
Mit, glove or bonnet
Wet dry vacuum unit

Method

Whip solution into dense sudsy foam. Dip mit or bonnet into foam only. Run mit over fabric or affected area in the direction of the nap lay or the direction of the warp yarns. Extract with wet-dry vacuum or absorbent toweling.

Advantages

May minimize yellowing and will not overwet the fabric or textile. Primarily used in maintenance type cleaning.

Disadvantages

Not designed for restoration type cleaning and therefore may not be very effective on very soiled or abraded fabrics and textiles. Could possibly yield a less than completely desirable quality and result.
